Gone Weekending.

It's Friday! Tonight I'm baking cupcakes for my husband's birthday. He turns 37 tomorrow! My daughter is having a friend over tonight, so I'm pretty excited to have some extra little hands available for frosting & sprinkles detail. :) I finished four rough sketches last night for a little Alice inspired group of paintings. I hope to get started on those this weekend as well. Is anyone else beyond excited for the new movie? I'm thinking it will not disappoint. I love Johnny & Helena together. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

How Does Your Garden Grow.

Not to bore you with another I can't wait for spring post, but...the photos above are evidence of why I love it so much! It's planting season, which means this year's garden planning starts very soon. You can click on the pics to enlarge and see what all we have going on there. Last year was my first year for a full blown vegetable garden, and I have to say it's probably one of the most rewarding thing I've EVER done. If you look at the top right corner of the last photo you'll see the girls raiding the strawberry patch! Anyone else planning a garden this year?

Currently Crushing On.

Spring is just around the corner, which means I'm making out a list of things to update around the house. One project on my radar this year is re-painting the front door and shutters. I think I'm going to do charcoal colored shutters, so I can't put practically anything on the door. Right now it's a hideous drab maroonish color, left over from the previous owner. I would much rather come home to something happy and bright. Wouldn't you?

* The Treasury Sale section of my shop is now up and running! In the left sidebar, just below my Etsy shop window, you'll see a "Currently in Treasury Sale" button. Below that I will update the prints currently on sale. Treasury prints will be marked down from $20 to $15 for the duration of the treasury, which is 3 days I believe. I'll use Craftopolis to find items currently in treasuries. The site also has a treasury clock, that will let you know when treasuries will open up, so that you can make your own. I will update the section daily as needed. Sound good?

It's a Mod Life.

Isn't this mod little dress cute? I love buying vintage and second hand at thift stores, but I'm a little timid about buying it online unless it's accessories. I'm 5' 10" (yes, that includes ape like arms and a 35" inseam) and much of vintage seems to be cut for more petite types. Any tall gals out there have tips for shopping vintage online?

p.s. Isn't the model adorable?

New Section In Shop.

I'm trying to think of a way to add a sale section (for prints)to my shop. I'd like it to be a rotating collection of a few prints, where collectors get to pick what's in it. I've thought of using Craftcult and putting a few of my most "hearted" prints in the section. Or maybe putting in prints currently in the Treasury section over at Etsy, which I can view via Craftopolis. This way by hearting an item or placing it into a treasury you get the chance to get it at a discount. I would just update the sale section daily at a designated time. Still trying to work on the details. Feedback or ideas anyone?

Sweet Tooth.

I made a huge pan of lemon bars over the weekend. If there's anything better than sweet, it's sweet + tart. I went a little overboard with the POWER-ed sugar as my daughter calls it. That's what happens when you try to do things without a sifter. What can I say, I was ready to try one!
Crust
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2/3 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. softened butter
Combine until crumbly, then press into bottom of 9 x13 buttered pan, bake at 350 for 15 min.
Lemon Layer
6 eggs
1 3/4 c. white sugar
6 tablespoons flour
1 c. lemon juice (I added a bit of zest too)
Combine everything and beat until frothy. Pour over hot crust and return to oven for another 15-20 minutes. Let cool, then dust with more powdered for decoration. Viola! Enjoy.

New Print In Shop.

I worked on a new print this weekend. You can find One For You (8x10), here.

Gone Weekending.

It's Friday. Woot Woot. What are you doing this weekend? I'll be soothing sore throats (again! - nasty winter cold, leave my children alone!!!), painting my dresser, and working on a new print. Hope you enjoy yours. See you on Monday.

New Prints In Shop.

I have some fresh meat in the ole shop. Three new prints, just listed. Letting Go (8x10), Happy Camper (8x8), and Flutter By (8x10). I'm crazy about them. They have me longing for warmer weather! Spring is just around the corner, right?

Small Style.

Still stalking the Crew Cuts over at J. Crew. Because, if I'm lucky, and the sleeves happen to be super long, I can still shop from the girls section. Don't they look like little adults?

A duo of blank dolls ready for handstitched details. A bit bigger than the last ones, and just as much fun to make.

Speaking of Vintage.

Just found another sweet vintage shop over at Etsy via my Twitter followers. Ashley & David have brought together a colorful mix of mid-century goodness at The Sunday Times Market. Tons of cheerful wares featuring everything from furniture to instant collections. Also now through March 1st, they are donating 20% of all sales to the Hope for Haiti Relief Fund. Go check it out!

The Big Box of Vintage.

My mother-in-law, who is a vintage collector extraordinaire, gave me one of the best Christmas presents ever. A big box full of vintage tid bits. Fabrics, buttons, lace, trims, ribbon, beads, costume jewelry, etc. I dug through the box yesterday as I'm working on some new dolls. What's pictured is maybe 1/20th of what the box contains. So many pretty things to inspire. Am I a lucky girl or what? She has a vintage button collection that will make your eyes bulge. Me thinks someone could have a very successful vintage supply shop over at Etsy. Yep.

Two Good Things.

Two Good Things.
We have an official snow day! FINALLY. Snow days were a rare occurance in my childhood. I remember getting up around 6 a.m. just to watch the snow bird on the morning news, hoping to see our district on the scrolling list. Giddy with excitement. My kindergartener doesn't have class today and she's bummed! What's with kids these days?

Precious Cargo.

Oh to be small again. And a bike with multiple baskets. Perfection. Have you seen Tavi's blog? It's a riot. Also, randomly, have you ever seen this site? What a way to shop for clothes.

Gone Weekending.

Lately I seemed to get more accomplished Friday through Sunday than I do the rest of the week, so I'm excited about the weekend. What do I have planned? Let's see...perhaps we'll play poker tonight, then tomorrow I seriously need to work on some storage solutions for our mudroom area. (Ikea, maybe?) Our shelves are overflowing and I can't find anything. Also, I think it's the perfect time to start making Valentines, don't you?
See you Monday.

For the Sweet Tooth.

Butterless, flourless, eggless, and sugarless... COOKIE. I've never heard of such a thing. Until I made these last night. Surprisingly yummy and healthy!

Trains. Planes. Automobiles.

(Update: They are now available here, here, and here.)
I've long wanted to create some prints for the shop that are perfect for little boys' rooms. Trains, planes, and automobiles just kept coming to mind. I love how they turned out. The originals are 6x6 each, made from handcut collage papers. I'm going to run a test print tonight while shipping orders, make sure the colors are perfect, then they'll be in the shop. I hope you like them!

Hello Monday.

Blog neglect. Guilty as charged. What can I say? It's been busy busy around here. Two sick little girls now, nothing major, just crummy colds, but icky nonetheless. I've learned to make a mean vitamin cocktail and my fingers are crossed they're on the mend.
I managed to finish 3 collages last night. A little something different...stay tuned.
